NEW February 2021!  Authored by Jeffrey G. Herbert. Published 2021.  Paperback, 305 pp. This publication is an extraction of 21 volumes of records from Wesley Chapel. This was the first Methodist Episcopal Church in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. The first church was built in 1805 and the earliest surviving records date from 1812.
The work is divided into 6 sections of distinct records: baptisms (1822-1825), deaths (1827 – 1835), interments (1826 – 1850), church account books (1812 – 1837), membership records (1812 – 1834), and church dockets (1829 – 1838). In addition, there is a list of family burial plots sold for the Catherine Street Cemetery, and a comprehensive index of family names for all sections.  
The original records are stored at the Cincinnati History Library and Archives and have not been previously extracted or microfilmed.

The original Book 1, Book A, Book 3, and Book 4 Court Journals are housed in the Archives and Rare Books Library within the Carl Blegen Library at the University of Cincinnati. Filed as: Hamilton County Probate Court Journal Entry Volumes. Accession No. ON-74-06 1791-1837 3 vol. A transcription of the original volumes was published in 1977, 1981 and 1985. In 2009, the volumes being long out of print, it was decided to reissue the volumes as a CD with the pages processed by Adobe Acrobat, giving us the capability of having every word searchable. Persons of interest may be included as witnesses, purchasers or administrators which would not be known with a decedent only index.

An index of all property owner names, street names, and alley names found in a set of two atlases of Cincinnati, Ohio, published in 1895 and 1897. Together they cover the city’s basin area from the Ohio River north to Liberty Street, and from Freeman Avenue east to the base of Mount Adams. This area includes more than 400 city blocks containing 11,352 pieces of property. This atlas tells you the property owner name (each time it appears on the maps), the atlas in which it appeared, the page(s) where that street or alley name appears, and the streets that bordered that street. Some of these streets may not appear on any other map you have found. This index offers a quick way to determine if your family rented or owned property.

This index contains baptismal records of all existing Roman Catholic Churches in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati except for Hamilton County, Ohio, which is covered in a separate set of publications. Early records from the town of Minster, Ohio, in Auglaize County list the place of origin in Germany for many of the founding families. This information has been extracted as a separate list and is included in the introduction to the publication.

Old St. Joseph German Cemetery, 1845-1879
Herbert, Jeffrey G. Hamilton County, Ohio, Burial Records: Volume 19. Milford, OH: Little Miami Publishing Co., 2009. -- Old St. Joseph Cemetery was established as a burial ground for Roman Catholics in Cincinnati and is located at 3823 W. 8th Street in Price Hill. This index contains more than 13,000 burial records. The burial register for this cemetery is the source for this index. Written mostly in old German script, the register usually contained only the name of the deceased, burial date, and grave location. These records were then compared to church burial records to add the age of the deceased and the church from which the deceased was buried. Existing headstones were also checked for additional information, which is included in the Notes column. Burial index is by surname and by lot/block. Maps of cemetery sections are included.

Milford, OH: Little Miami Publishing Co., 2010. -- St. John Cemetery was established in 1849 as a burial ground for Roman Catholics in Cincinnati, and is located on Vine Street in St. Bernard. This index contains more than 28,500 burial records. The burial register for this cemetery is the source for this index. Written in German using old German script, the register usually contained only the name of the deceased, burial date, row/grave or block/lot. These records were then compared to the church burial records to add the age of the deceased and the church from which the deceased was buried. Maps of cemetery sections are included.

This publication includes more than 12,000 names alphabetically arranged by section from morgue records that include burials that took place, among other cemeteries, in Potter’s Field, a burial ground reserved for strangers and the friendless poor. The people who died and were buried here were likely to have died unexpectedly, were indigent, or without guardianship. Unless claimed by relatives, all bodies from the various public institutions were interred here. In 1981, the use of this cemetery was discontinued and burials were contracted with funeral directors for indigent burials in private cemeteries.
