Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library, Downtown Main Library, 800 Vine St., Cincinnati
On Saturday 24 October 2026, join fellow researchers for a Genealogy Lock-In at the downtown Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library. This event was re-instituted last year and was very popular.
The Lock-In begins at 6:30 p.m., after the library is closed to the general public. Registrants will enter at a specific door (details will be in the registration confirmation) no later than 7:00 p.m. Even if you are at the library earlier that day, everyone must exit at 6:00 p.m. Once the lock-in begins, you may leave at any time or stay until 11:30 p.m. Once you leave the Lock-in, you cannot re-enter.
You will have the Genealogy and Local History Department all to yourselves (and other genealogists) with library staff to assist you if you need help. HCGS will provide snacks and drinks.
There is convenient parking at the City of Cincinnati parking garage, which you enter on the south side of Ninth Street between Vine and Race. Participants may choose to return to the garage in groups, for convenience and safety after dark. The Lock-In is a great time to do research and network with other local researchers.
Registration is required for the Lock-In. There is a limit to the number of people who can attend. Here is the link for registration:
